The Highlands Hub

The Parish Church Council of Holy Trinity with St Columba regrets to announce that the Community Café, The Highlands Hub, will not be re-opening following closure in March for the Covid lockdown.
The church has been glad to invest its resources in meeting a community need through the Hub café which has been a welcoming presence at the Highlands Road shops for more than 9 years. Well served by volunteers from the community and the church and the Hub Manager, many community groups and individuals have enjoyed meeting regularly at The Hub; it has been a safe and friendly place where new skills can be learned and self-confidence can be nurtured.
Great efforts have been made to see how the Hub could re-open under the new Covid safe regulations. The restrictions of space meant only three individuals of household bubbles could be safely accommodated which greatly diminishes the original vision for social inclusion in the Hub.
This would impact further on income; the Hub recently suffered a significant loss income as regular hirers moved their services to another location. It is with great regret that the decision was made to close The Hub permanently.
With everyone who has supported us, we celebrate all that The Hub has achieved. We’re actively looking for new ways to serve alongside the many people we’ve got to know through running The Hub.
